While I enjoyed it, I found that I actually was kinda bored with it.
The daily lives of the characters & their conversations seemed so pointless & very nearly bored me to tears.
.............Fast forward to this year..........
Within the past month, I decided to start reading Pride & Prejudice.
Second verse. Same as the first!
Oh, my lands!!!!
I.JUST.CAN'T.TAKE.IT!
It seems that all these characters talk about are parties & dresses & getting married.
I am not getting depth of character from these peeps!
No one is more surprised than I by my summation of Austen's P&P.
I loved the BBC version of the novel, & I was really looking forward to reading it.
BUT, there is just no amount of hot tea & scones that will get me to be able to finish this book.
I am so sad & disappointed!

I'm sure I'm the only woman alive who doesn't care for Jane Austen's books. :(
I love the Bronte sisters more myself LOL ....It's a bit darker.
ReplyDeleteI think you really can't look at her books with today's sensibilities, you have to get swept up in the time .... Although as a single woman, maybe I can still relate to parties and marriage talk a bit more LOL
